Mini Family Vacation

1 May

This past weekend we did a mini family vacation to Las Vegas, and for the first time ever…we didn’t go into the strip!  It IS possible to do a weekend at Sin City that is family oriented.  Logan and Sammie were sooooo good during the car ride, Jay and I were a little worried, but everything worked out okay.  We stayed at the Viera at Aston MonteLago Village.  My parents and brother came along as well.  I gotta say staying in the village at Lake Las Vegas was very convenient, Sammie and Logan can just go outside and walk through the village.  You can go on boat rides, shop through the unique stores, and there are some nice restaurants all just a stroll away.    Over the weekend we drove to Nevada’s Red Rock Canyons….it was beautiful.  If you do ever go there…there is a 13 mile one way loop….the first stop has the most picture opportunities, and has in my opinion the easier hiking trials.  We also went to visit Hoover Dam….we got to walk on the walkway bridge over the Hoover Dam, it was really cool.

Anyways….it is a new month and I also wanted to update you on our weight lost journey.  I will say we kind of kicked back a little for the month of April so we didn’t lose as much weight as last month.  We had birthday parties every weekend, and I was on bed rest the last week….so not exercising as much….and yes…you are reading excuses….so this month….we will be back on track.  I’m starting another session of Body Back so I am very excited about that.  This is our current status:

March 1, 2012 – Weight: 140 / Size: 8

March 30, 2012 – Weight: 136 / Size: 8

April 30, 2012 – Weight: 133 / Size: 8

My total weight loss – 7 pounds

Jay’s total weight loss – 11 pounds

Total combined weight loss – 18 pounds

On the side note, Jason got us the new Nike Fuel Band and it is very cool.  I love the sharing options, and it looks like a sleek black bracelet, can’t wait to try it out this month.

9 Months Old Already!

15 Apr

Logan is 9 months old today!  I can’t believe how fast he is growing!  And his personality is coming out more and more everyday!  Jason has been working been so patient with sleep training him so he now sleeps in his own crib through the night.  We have the room back to ourselves!!!  I don’t know how long that is going to last, but I’m just happy to see Logan sleeping through the night in his own room.  I still occasionally worry…but with the night video monitor I’m slowing letting go.  Logan loves eating table foods now.  He is such a good eater….he’s on stage 2 and 3 foods, and we also give him table foods as well.  He’s my little angel =).  When I look at him I always think of the line that Monica from the TV show Friends says when she first laid eyes on her son…”I’m going to love you soooooo much that no woman will ever be good enough for you.”  That’s how I feel when I look at Logan =)  And of course…gotta show some pictures of him from the last month.

And of course there’s Sammie who’s almost 3, she’s such a big girl now!  She understands so much!  Just this month I broke out some board games that are meant for 3 year olds and she understood how to play.  I have been waiting for the day when I can play board games with her.  Her favorite is this elephant game called Zimbbos.  We just had a parent-teacher conference with her teacher at school and couldn’t be happier with what we heard.  She’s one of the most active students in her class, and can out run all her classmates, she loves art, and she loves singing.  She makes me smile all the time.  She loves her brother and because he’s getting older, they are starting to play together in their own little ways.  She also starts her ballet class with her best friends this week so I’m pretty excited about that.  And of course…gotta post some picture of her from this past month as well.  The first 2 images are from her school fundraiser event called The Hoppy Olympics:

End of the 1st Month

30 Mar

Image

Here’s an image I found from numbqueen.tumbler.com that’s sums up my feelings towards fitness.

Well it’s been about a month since Jason and I started eating right and exercising.  I’m here to report that we are doing great!!!  Jay is down a little over 10 pounds….I am sooooo proud of him, and me…I’m down about 4 pounds.  So here’s my progress so far:

March 1, 2012 – Weight: 140 / Size: 8

March 30, 2012 – Weight: 136 / Size: 8 (but it’s now very loose) Lost 2 inches off my waist line!!!

So our goal of losing 30 pounds by Logan’s birthday (in July)…we are pretty much half way there and only in one months worth of time!  I thought that I would have more time for the gym but it’s been so busy at work lately with the wedding season swinging in full gear so I’m now only going to the gym once a week…but I am still doing the Body Back Program for moms.  I’m so glad that I started the program with them, everyone is really nice and I love meeting new people.  I’m definitely signing up for the next session that starts in May.  I can tell you one thing….all the mom’s in that group look fabulous…and they can all probably kick my butt.  I’m still the last one to finish all the drills….but I know that I am getting stronger every class =)  There’s not one day where I’m not sore…and I have soreness in places I didn’t even know muscles exist!  I can’t wait to see where Jay and I are at the end of April!

Mommy wants her body back!

1 Mar

Well…it’s March…Jay and I are officially starting to diet and exercise starting today.  I have not exercised since pre-wedding ….that’s pretty much 5 years ago.   Pretty scary huh?  After I got married I was pregnant with Sammie and my excuse after having Sammie was that I knew I was going have another child….so of course….no exercise then.  Now that Logan is completely off breastmilk and we don’t plan on any more children…it’s finally time for me to take my weight on seriously.  So together as a couple our goal is 30 (40 would be nice….but baby steps first) pounds by Logan’s 1st birthday.

So to really get myself on track I decided to blog my progress so I hold myself accountable….on the 1st of every month I will track our progress.

So this is my weight now (I cringe when I see this number….I really miss my pre-pregnancy weight).

Weight: 140 / Size: 8

I will update this number next month and see if it’s better (crossing fingers).  As far as my plan to tackle on this challenge of ours….Jay and I are planning at least 3 gym visits per week.  Daily walks with the kids if possible.  I am cutting out my junk food…which is literally 1600-2000 calories a day…I normally drink 1-2 cans of soda, have cake, eat ice cream, snack on cookies, and this is everyday too!  So pretty much we have to start eating right.  And the kicker that I think will really help…I am starting the Body Back program for moms starting next week…which is pretty much boot camp for moms.  It’s an 8 week program with moms trying to lose their pregnancy weight.  I know I am already in over my heads….but I have to prove to myself I can do this.  Boot camp is every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:45 AM!!  I am going to die!  =(

Jay will have his reffing on Saturdays and his basketball on Sundays.  I think together we can do this…I think the biggest issue we have right now is that we don’t eat right…but all that will change.  =)

How time flies.

21 Feb

I can’t believe how fast Logan and Sammie are growing!  It’s amazing how much they change in just weeks!  Logan is now a little over 7 months old and everyday he is trying new things.  He is definitely a charmer, always very happy and always smiling at everyone.   He is now very good at sitting and rolling…not quite at crawling yet but getting there.  Sammie didn’t start crawling until eight and a half months so Logan should almost be there.  When he’s on his tummy he’s able to scoot very slowing in circles.  As far as talking…he’s yammering gibberish everyday.  And…I’m very happy to report that he is finally on formula!!!  He was breastfed for 7 months…and just this past week he completely transitioned over to formula…making it a lot easier for us to take him out for longer periods of time.  He also seems to be very interested in food…but for some reason he doesn’t like the baby food texture.  He’s more interested in eating actual textured food.  He loves his crackers and teething biscuits, but if you give him baby food he just won’t eat it.  I think he’s going to be one of those babies that will just go straight to table foods, we’ll see.

Sammie’s new thing is animals.  She loves going to the zoo.  (Also….we push the zoo now because our Disneyland passes expired)  She can spend all day watching the flamingos…her absolute favorite animal (we know it’s her favorite only because they are pink).  She also loves the gorilla’s since one of her favorite movies is Tarzan.  She is talking a lot more now…sometimes way too much.  She loves singing and every once in awhile she’ll speak in Spanish and Chinese since she’s taking classes at her school.  The other say she just started to count in Spanish and tell us the colors, she’s picking up so much from Kids Klub.  She also loves taking care of Logan…always helping him find his toys and always telling his what he can and can’t do….today she tried giving him her fries and I had to yank the fries away before Logan can eat it.  I can’t wait until a few months later when they can really start playing with each other.

5 Months Already!

15 Dec

Logan is 5 months old today!  In a blink of an eye he’s now a completely new person.  It’s amazing how much he has developed in just a few weeks.  At four months old he was able to roll from both directions….now he’s able to roll from both directions, and flip back as well.  And when you put his in a sitting position he’s able to stay for a few seconds before slumping forward.  When we do tummy time with him, he’s even trying to crawl!  He’ll try to get his right leg under him and push himself forward buy a few inches….he still needs to develop his upper body.  Logan is a very happy baby, everything delights him.  Here’s a few more photos of Logan:

Sammie just got done doing her holiday show.  She was excellent.  Here’s a clip of her class the Honeybees, doing their thing: Holiday Show.  And in celebration of the holidays here are a few pictures of the kids all decked out:

The last photo is everyone’s favorite…Samantha is sooo scared of Santa…what’s funny is that in a year or 2 this would not be the case.  As soon as the photographer snapped the photo she was fine….Santa even gave her some candy (he should have given it before).

Samantha has been going through a Disney Princess phase.  We have been taking the kids to Disneyland as much as we can since our passes are about to expire next month.  We don’t plan to renew the passes until Logan can walk and eat table foods so we are milking the pass as much as possible.  The last time we went Jason got to take a picture with his favorite Disney character….GOOFY!  And of course I had to make sure that Sammie got to visit with one of princesses…she was completely taken away with Belle.  Her favorite princess is Sleeping Beauty aka Aurora, and she’s never even seen the movie!  She has these miniature toy Disney princesses that she plays with everyday.  She even washes them when she takes a bath.  It’s cute how much so adores them.
